Fall means it’s time for football, but tailgating food choices aren’t always the healthiest. With a few modifications, it’s easy to make a healthier take on the traditional buffalo chicken dip.
Cheese has some health benefits, but we all know it is higher in fat, saturated fat and calories. This recipe uses lower fat cheeses to help reduce some of these things.
The cheese in this recipe contains some benefits, including, calcium for bone health, selenium for cognitive function, vitamin B12 for a healthy nervous system, zinc for boosting the immune system, among other things, vitamin B2 for turning food into fuel, vitamin A for vision, and vitamin K2 for bone and heart health.
Chicken is a food with one of the highest protein contents. It is also rich in several vitamins, including vitamin D, vitamin A, and several of the B vitamins.

- 4 oz reduced-fat or fat-free softened cream cheese
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 cup shredded reduced-fat cheddar or Colby-Jack cheese
- ½ cup hot sauce
- ½ cup crumbled light bleu cheese
- 2 cups shredded cooked chicken
- 1 teaspoon white wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon ranch seasoning (optional)
- Green onion (optional)

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl.
Heat on low for two to four hours in a slow cooker or until all the cheese is fully melted.
Garnish with green onion (optional).
Serve immediately with your favorite vegetables, chips, or crackers.
