4 Good Reasons To Try a New Food Each Week

We are mid-way through January, how are your New Year’s resolutions going? Instead of thinking of resolutions, I want you to think about healthy life solutions. I have a great idea for you as you start doing that.
Remember, it takes 20 to 30 times to try a food before you will actually acquire a taste for it. I know what you are thinking: You like the food you like. Well, here is a list of reasons why trying new foods is a good idea.
1. Variety is the spice of life and is healthy for you, too.
By choosing a variety of different foods with different colors and from different food groups, you will have a well-balanced and nutrient-dense diet. Long story short, you will be healthier. So go out there and try some Brussels sprouts, rutabaga or different foods from around the world.
2. Be Adventurous
Life is too short to only have apples and peanut butter and jelly. I always tell my husband to stop being a wuss. This works for him, but sometimes it takes some coercing. When we met, he never really was a fan of salmon, asparagus, eggplant or chick peas. Now, he actually likes salmon and asparagus. And he has tried eggplant and chick peas. I try preparing them in different ways to help him keep an open mind.
3. Be a good example for your family and friends
If you don’t want to try new foods for yourself then do it to be a good example for your family and friends. Your children will be less picky eaters if you learn how to eat and try new foods together.
4. Why not?
Why not try new foods? What do you have to lose? Even the most adventurous of food eaters make the effort to try new things. You can mix it up by trying a new recipe or new combinations of food. Instead of asking “why”, think “why not”.
Food is fun, tastes good and is definitely part of our social lives, so mixing it up and trying new things can be a great adventure as you embark on a healthier you.
