DIY: Natural Body Butter Recipe

Keeping skin soft and supple in Michigan’s unpredictable weather can be challenging. From hot summers on the Great Lakes to bitter cold winters on the slopes of the Upper Peninsula, there are a lot of factors that affect skin condition.

Not to worry. There are many ways to keep skin healthy using ingredients that are natural moisturizers, tissue healers, and cell re-generators.

Whether you want to save on expensive body creams or just want to try a natural alternative to the products you’re currently using, this simple seven-ingredient body butter might just be the solution you’re looking for.

Here’s what you’ll need to get started. These common ingredients can be purchased at your local health food store or can be found online.

Instructions:

  1. Empty water into pot and bring to a boil
  2. Empty beeswax, shea butter and cocoa butter into a sauce pan and stir over low heat
  3. Once melted, use a whisk to whip the mixture
  4. Add 2 TBSP of olive oil and stir
  5. Remove mixture from heat
  6. Slowly add boiled water and stir
  7. Remove mixture from heat
  8. Add 5 drops of lavender oil and 10 drops of Vitamin E oil
  9. Whisk until mixed well
  10. Empty it into an airtight container such as a mason jar and let cool

For best results, apply every morning and again in the evening.
