Tour de TART: Grab a Bike and Join in the Fun Tomorrow
The Tour de France may get all the bike-racing glory, but Michigan is home to a number of fun cycling events of its own. And one is coming up soon — as in tomorrow! TART (Traverse Area Recreation and Transportation) trails is hosting the 15th annual Tour de TART bicycle event on Friday, July 24th and you can still sign up. You’ll hit the Leelanau trails with more than 600 people of all ages, going from Traverse City at Darrow Park and ending at Marin Park in Suttons Bay.
Along the way, enjoy sights and scenic views along the trail that you’d miss if you were speeding by in a car. Check out the iconic yellow Caboose, the DeYoung farm, vineyards and orchards. Not only that, but you’ll be able to enjoy two food stops along the beautiful 17-mile ride, including a bayside meal at the Suttons Bay Marina and a stop at a local microbrew (because biking makes you thirsty, obviously).
Whether you’re looking to take a nice relaxing ride with your family and friends, want to dominate the 17-mile trek or are just going for the food, Tour de TART is for you. Plus you get to give your legs a rest at the end by loading up your bike onto a bus and getting driven back to the start.
Register for the race here. You can start anytime between 4:00pm and 6:30pm, and the last bus leaves Suttons Bay at 9:30pm. Entrance fees are $35 for adults 13 and up and $15 for kids 12 and under. The Tour de TART race is proudly presented by Blue Care Network and Fox Motors.
