6 Ways to Cut Boredom Out of Back-To-School Routines
The first month of school in the Mitten is quickly coming to a close, how are your kids faring so far? Hopefully they’re settling into their classrooms and making new friends.
Inevitably you and your kids will fall into a routine, but you should make such patterns work to your advantage. Here are some tips to prep for the rest of the school year and break, what can sometimes seem like monotonous, ruts:
- Set up a weekly play date at the park or incorporate an active way to get to school: getting your kids out, active and open to new games will keep them healthy and happy.
- Switch up the lunchtime meals: by now, your kids might already be dreading the PB and J. Give them different alternatives and unique presentations. Kids meals can be different and still be nutritious.
- Help your child discover a new language or musical instrument : with winter months approaching, finding something productive to do or practice indoors will help occupy their time now and later.
- Readjust the furniture in your child’s homework space: without allowing them too much creative freedom, change the direction of a table or the placement of the desk in their room. Your kiddo will relish the new perspective.
- Arrange a checkup and backpack clean out: keeping your kid and their stuff healthy makes for a happy household.
- Let your kids help you cook breakfast or dinner: allow a little extra time on certain occasions to let your child help you cook. Just be careful not to let them use knives, hot surfaces or overly messy foods!
