Secrets to Setting Reachable Goals
Do you know the difference between short-term goals and long-term goals?
Some may think they are all the same, but in actuality, short-term goals create a guided path for accomplishing long-term goals. Long-term goals help keep us focused on our wants and desires.
Give Yourself a Timeline
When you think of setting your long-term goals, an acceptable time frame is anywhere from one to five years. Short-term goals require no specific time frame; however, anywhere from one week to three months is usually recommended.
Having an end date in mind keeps us on track for accomplishing our goals. Individuals may get side tracked or put off a goal if they do not have a timeline for goal completion in mind.
Motivation plays a huge part in achieving personal goals. What motivates you to be healthy? For me, I think of my daughter. I try to be the best role model in all or most areas of my life to set a good example. As the saying goes, that is much easier said than done. Goals can be challenging at times, so finding motivation within yourself is vital if you want to accomplish your goals.
