Get ready, Detroit. We’re about to set a world record.

On Saturday, February 22, organizers of Yoga Rocks Ford Field hope to gather 3,000 participants in what would set a new record for the world’s largest indoor yoga session.

Brought to you by Come Play Detroit and Yoga Shelter, the goal of this event is to bring lots of different Michigan cities together and unify the city and the suburbs.

“This is a unique experience that will hopefully attract people who don’t typically come downtown,” explains Justin Jacobs, founder of Come Play Detroit.  “It’s not often that Detroit has a chance to tell its own story. There are positive things going on in this city and we want to give the community an opportunity to experience them.”

The $25 fee does more than cover the yoga class and parking.  Attendees will also have the opportunity to take a bus tour of Detroit so they can see landmarks like Eastern Market, the Riverfront and Belle Isle first-hand.

On that day, Ford Field will open at 8:30 a.m. with live music, giveaways, massages, acupuncture, smoothies and more. The yoga sessions begins at 9:45 a.m. and will be led by nationally renowned instructor Eric Paskel. Participants are encouraged to bring a mat, a towel and water and wear comfortable clothes.

Ticket proceeds and sponsorship dollars will go to raise awareness and support for Yoga By Design Foundation, an organization that underwrites yoga programs for underserved populations.
