BCBSM Coat Drive in support of St. Vincent de Paul

Thursday, November 14th, 2013 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan partnered with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul for a one-day coat drive to support the many in the Detroit area who will be without a coat this upcoming winter. Screen Shot 2013-11-14 at 11.51.17 AM


Speakers at the event included the vice president and general counsel at BCBSM and member of the board of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Jeff Rumley, UAW president Amalgamated Local 2500, Carlton L. King and William D. Brazier, Executive Director, St. Vincent de Paul- Detroit.  The Warren De La Salle Collegiate High School marching band, led by Michael Szczegielniak, was also in attendance to help raise awareness in the community and encourage the public to give back and help other as we head into the holiday season and another cold winter here in Michigan.


The Blues partnership this year will allow St. Vincent de Paul to provide additional assistance to those in need. St. Vincent de Paul will give-away most of the coats, and a small portion of the donated coats will be sold for low prices to help St. Vincent de Paul provide free emergency services, transportation, dental care, shelter and other unique care issues particular to various communities they serve.
