the start of the summertrail series 5k
If you enjoy running or walking 5Ks, the free Summer Trail Series is for you!
Presented by the MI Big Green Gym partnership, a series of three free 5K run and walk events allow participants to be active outdoors and explore Michigan parks.
Participants will need to register for each event separately, approximately three weeks prior to the event. Register early as last year’s events sold out. The first event at DeWitt High School took place on June 20 and the remaining two races in the series will be held:
  • Wednesday, July 26 at Lake Lansing Park North
  • Thursday, August 24 at Sleepy Hollow State Park
If you decide to take part in the 5K at Sleepy Hollow State Park, please remember that you must have a Recreation Passport in order to enter the park. Recreation Passports will be available for purchase at the entrance to the park, but it is recommended to leave a few additional minutes to complete the purchase before the event. You can also purchase a Recreation Passport at any state park prior to the race if you did not purchase it when renewing your license plate.
The Summer Trail Series is brought to you by the Playmakers Fitness Foundation, MParks, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and the DNR. Snacks and fruit will be provided by Meijer and baked goods will be provided by Breadsmith.
Come out and enjoy MI Big Green Gym by registering for the Summer Trails Series 5Ks at this link.
