How much water should you be drinking? Benefits of drinking water:

  • Water helps boost energy levels.
  • It transports oxygen and other important nutrients to the cells in your body.
  • Eighty-five percent of your brain tissue is comprised of water, so if you’re dehydrated, your body and mind will both be stressed.
  • Water keeps your joints lubricated and helps to prevent muscle cramping.
  • It’s essential to digestion; water dissolves waste particles and passes them smoothly through the digestive tract, helping to avoid constipation.
  • Water lowers the risk of getting kidney stones.
  • It hydrates your skin. If you are dehydrated, your wrinkles are deeper, so drink that water and look younger naturally.
  • Water cools your body from the inside out.

  1. I knew some benefits of drinking water but when you read the list in this article, it reminds me of how important to drink water before you feel dehydrated. “Water is an energy booster”? hmm, I better stop drinking Red Bulls.

    1. Thanks for reading, Ben. So water is an energy booster because being dehydrated depletes the system and does not let our body/organs/hormones/chemicals in the body work most efficiently. So step away from the energy drinks and get in some H20! Thank you for your comment. 🙂

  2. Yes, water is very important to our health. I drink a glass of water when I wake up in the morning and drink half glass of water before each meal. I don’t drink other alternatives, like tea or beverages.

  3. Can you drink too much? Sometimes the more I drink, the more thirsty I am. I’m a 73-year-old woman.

    1. Hello, thank for your question! Though it’s uncommon in healthy adults, it is possible to drink too much water. If you are concerned about persistent thirst that isn’t quenched by drinking water, talk with your healthcare provider to determine if there is any underlying health condition.
