Here are some of our favorite holiday activities around the state that you and your family can do this holiday season:
  • Visit Frankenmuth: The entire city of Frankenmuth radiates with the spirit of Christmas. Walk along Main Street to see the city decorated with twinkling lights and garland, or take a horse drawn carriage ride for the full Christmas experience. While in Frankenmuth, don’t skip Bronner’s which claims to be “the world’s largest Christmas store.” The store has thousands of ornaments and every decoration that you could think of.
  • Polar Express train in Owosso: The Polar Express is a popular children’s book and you can experience the Polar Express in real life. The North Pole Express is an hour and fifteen-minute ride that runs between Owosso and Ashley in mid-Michigan. After riding the holiday-themed train with hot cocoa, passengers can visit the Christmas village in Ashley to take pictures see Santa Claus. This Christmas excursion is a magical and a great addition to your family’s holiday traditions. Tickets are required in advance and often sell out quickly.
  • See Santa: Visiting Santa is a holiday tradition for many families, but Michigan has many places where children can see Santa that don’t require parents wait in line at the mall.
