Mother’s Day 2022: Michigan Events to Celebrate with Mom This Year
Are you looking to get out of the house this Mother’s Day or maybe give the gift of time and an experience?
From indoor to outdoor and paid to free, there is a wide variety of fun Mother’s Day events planned in Michigan this year.
Mother’s Day weekend falls on May 7-8 in 2022.
Markets and Shopping
Mother’s Day Market at Mill in Kalamazoo
When: Saturday May 7, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Where: 8619 ML Ave W in Kalamazoo.
Details: This vintage inspired, flea-market style, upscale shopping event features local curators, antiquarians, farmers, unique vendors, crafters, designers, and artisans selling antiques, re-purposed items, farmhouse finds, hand-crafted items, clothing, jewelry, home décor and much more.
Parking and admission are free. The mill will also feature farm fresh goods, local food, baked goods, live music, and activities for kids.
Mom’s Market at the Fenton Community & Cultural Center
When: Saturday May 7, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Where: 150 S. Leroy St. in Fenton.
Details: This special Mother’s Day event will include over 40 vendors, both inside and outside and outside of the community and cultural center.
There will be giveaways, raffles and the Twisted Burger food truck will be on hand. All ages are welcome and there is no entry fee.
Mother’s Day Craft Show in Freeland
When: Saturday May 7, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Where: 10952 W. Freeland Road in Freeland.
Details: The Freeland Marketplace Mother’s Day craft show implores you to come find the perfect gift for any mom, and will sell crafts, home décor, jewelry, baked goods, florals, candles and more.
This indoor and outdoor event is free to attend.
2022 Tulip Time Festival Artisan Market
When: Saturday and Sunday, May 7-8, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. both days.
Where: 895 Ottawa Beach Road in Holland.
Details: Following in the steps of more than 20 years of tradition, experience over 150 juried artisans with their handmade, original works. The Tulip Time Festival Artisan Market is at the grounds of Beechwood Church, which provides plenty of parking.
Food trucks will be on site and pop-up Dutch dance performances will take place throughout the market event times. There is no entry fee.
Mother’s Day Celebration at La Fleur Décor in Hadley
When: Saturday and Sunday, May 7-8 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. both days.
Where: 3442 Hadley Road in Hadley.
Details: Le Fleur Décor’s annual celebration of Mother’s Day aims to get you geared up for gardening season with unique plants, container gardens and garden art. Local artists and vendors will be set up for the entire weekend. The event is free.
Outdoorsy Activities
Mother’s Day Weekend at KOA (camping/wine tasting)
When: Friday, May 6 through Sunday, May 8
Where: Happening at both the Ypsilanti campgrounds at 6680 Bunton Road in Ypsilanti and the Weidman campgrounds at 1855 North Coldwater Road.

Mother’s Day Afternoon Cruise on the Michigan Princess in Lansing
When: Sunday, May 8 from 1-4 p.m.
Where: Aboard the Michigan Princess at 3004 W. Main St., in Grand River Park in Lansing.
Details: Bring mom on board for a beautiful cruise down the Grand River. Mother’s Day dinner will feature herb-roasted chicken, redskin potatoes, vegetarian lasagna, green beans, garden salad, dinner rolls, and chef’s choice of dessert. The Dixieland Jazz band will perform during the event and there is also a cash/credit card bar on board.
Tickets cost $67 for adults, $62 for senior citizens aged 60 and over, and $33.50 for children aged 4-12. Infants up to the age of 3 get aboard for free. Learn more about ticket information here.
Mother’s Day Hike at Indian Springs Metropark in White Lake
When: Sunday, May 8 from 10-11 a.m.
Where: 5175 Indian Trail in White Lake.
Details: Join Indian Springs Metropark for a wildflower walk along their nature trails, where guests will learn about the wildlife along the way in honor of Mother’s Day. Bring binoculars if you have them.
Children must be accompanied by a registered adult for this all-ages hike. Pre-registration is required by 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 7.

Mother’s Day Time to Teal 5k and Fun Run
When: Sunday, May, beginning at 8 a.m.
Where: 209 S. Ashley St. in Ann Arbor.
Details: The Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MIOCA) is proud to host the 11th Annual Mother’s Day Time to Teal event. Head out to Ann Arbor – or attend virtually – to celebrate the incredible women in your life as Mother’s Day is celebrated and World Ovarian Cancer Day is recognized. For 2022, the timed 5k will be held in-person in Downtown Ann Arbor with a fun run option on-site and a virtual race option available.
5k pricing:
- $40 – Until the night of May 7.
- $45 – Day of the race.

Mother’s Day Buffet at Frankenmuth
When: Sunday May 8, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Where: 1 Covered Bridge Lane at Bavarian Inn Lodge in Frankenmuth.
Details: Reservations are required for the lodge’s annual gourmet buffet. Seating will be spread across various banquet and dining rooms. Call 888-775-6343 for reservations.
Mother’s Day Mums Mimosa Sunday at Wine and Canvas
When: Sunday, May from 1-4 p.m.
Where: 2675 E. Paris Ave. SE, Suite E in Grand Rapids.
Details: Enjoy step-by-step instructions on how to recreate a specific tulip painting while sipping on your favorite beverage, in a relaxed and fun, artsy environment.
Tickets cost $36 per person and includes use of all necessary paint supplies and aprons, instruction by a professional local artist, and a 16 x 20 take-home painting.
The minimum age to attend the event is 14 years old

Mother’s Day Celebration at Fox Theatre
When: Friday, May 6 at 8 p.m.
Where: 2211 Woodward Ave, in Detroit.
Details: 105.9 KISS-FM & The Detroit Praise Network present a Mother’s Day celebration featuring gospel artists Marvin Sapp, Regina Belle, Kelly Price, Tamela Mann and Donnie McClurkin at the Fox Theatre.
