Michigan: It’s Time To #GoRedForWomen

With heart disease being the leading cause of death for women, the American Heart Association wants you to “go red” this February to show your support for the cause.

The entire month of February is set aside for American Heart Month. The American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement advocates for more research and swifter action to address women’s heart health issues. Cardiovascular diseases kill one in three women every year and affect an estimated 43 million women in the United States.

There are plenty of opportunities for you to support women’s heart health in Michigan, including a number of Go Red For Women luncheons around the state:

Ongoing: Little Hats, Big Hearts

With the right information, education and care, heart disease in women can be treated, prevented and even ended. Visit GoRedForWomen.org to learn what you can do to reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke. Everyone can benefit from the research, health tips and recipes there.

Wear your most fabulous red dress or outfit on Friday, Feb. 1 or attend one of the great events taking place across the state to show your support for the Go Red For Women movement and women impacted by heart disease.
