Don’t Toss That Almost Empty Peanut Butter Jar, Try These Recipes
If you love peanut butter and are looking for healthy, delicious recipes, then you will be happy to hear there are new ways to make the most of your peanut butter jar. Before you recycle an empty jar of peanut butter, consider using it to create these delicious recipes.
Overnight oats are a super easy, no-cook way to enjoy oatmeal. You add all your ingredients to the jar, leave it in the fridge overnight and your breakfast will be ready to go the next morning. The fiber in the oats and protein in the peanut butter will leave you feeling fuller for longer, even if you are eating fewer calories compared to other breakfasts.
The next recipe makes for a great dinner recipe. This tasty peanut sauce can be made using an empty peanut butter jar, allowing you to use what’s left in the jar rather than wasting it. It’s simple and quick—all you have to do is add a few ingredients to the peanut butter jar and shake it up. The sauce can be used for several recipes. Pour it over an Asian salad or top rice noodles like in this recipe. This recipe is also heart-healthy, as it is lower in sodium and feels much more guilt-free than take-out.

- 2 Tbsp. creamy peanut butter that is left in the peanut butter jar
- 1/2 cup low-fat milk
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
- 1/2 Tbsp. honey
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 cup bananas, sliced or mashed
- 1/2 cup quick oats
- 1 tsp. chia seeds
- Optional toppings – dark chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, coconut flakes, banana chips and/or whipped cream
Peanut Butter Jar Overnight Oats
1. Use your almost empty peanut butter jar. If you feel like there is not enough peanut butter, put a little bit more in there.
2. Add the milk, vanilla, honey, and cinnamon. Place cap on jar and shake it up.
3. Add bananas, oats, and chia seeds to jar. Place cap on jar and shake it up again.
4. Place in refrigerator and enjoy in the morning. Optional toppings can be placed on oats before serving. Enjoy!
- 1/3 cup smooth peanut butter
- 1/4 cup regular soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp. rice vinegar
- 5 Tbsp. sesame oil, divided
- 2 Tbsp. light brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp. fresh grated ginger, don’t use ginger powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. Sriracha
- 1-pound Udo, pad Thai rice noodles or Linguini noodles
- 1 cup finely shredded carrot
- 1 Tbsp. minced garlic
- 1/2 cup freshly chopped scallions
- 3 cups cooked shredded chicken (either from leftovers, cooked fresh or from a rotisserie chicken)
- Roasted peanuts
- Sesame seeds (optional)
- 2 Tbsp. cilantro, rough chopped
Thai Spicy Peanut Noodles with Chicken
1. Add soy sauce, rice vinegar, 2 1/2 Tbsp. sesame oil, brown sugar, ginger and Sriracha to the peanut butter jar. If you don’t have enough peanut butter in your jar, add more. Shake it up thoroughly. The sauce may seem thick but will thin out once mixed with warm noodles. Set the sauce aside.
2. Cook the noodles of choice in large pot of salted boiling water to al dente, according to package instructions.
3. Drain the noodles and mix in the remaining sesame oil over top and toss to coat evenly in large serving bowl.
4. Next, add in the carrots, garlic, scallions and shredded chicken. Combine thoroughly.
5. Shake sauce again and pour over the chicken and noodle mixture. Toss well to combine.
6. Plate in peanut butter jar and garnish with cilantro, peanuts and sesame seeds. Enjoy!
