Mitten Movies: 15 Films You Didn’t Know Were Made in Michigan

Michigan is known for many things. The Great Lakes, cherries, Motown, and Mackinac fudge are just a few things that spring to mind. However, did you know that Michigan is also a popular place to make films? Our historic buildings in downtown Detroit, as well as the scenic nature up north make for some pretty amazing movie sets.

Hundreds of movies have had set locations here in the state, and the films that have been produced here have spanned many genres. As the summer closes, and children go back to school, use this list to design a fun, family weekend movie marathon.
