Play Like a Lion Challenge
As summer comes to a close and fans get ready for football, more than 500 kids across Michigan are nearing the end of the #MIKidsCan Play like a Lion Challenge.
During the final week, kids and parents will learn about the importance of getting enough sleep and it’s impact on overall health. Experts recommend at least eight to 12 hours of sleep per night for kids ages six to 12-years-old.
If you know a child who hasn’t signed up yet, kids (supervised by a parent or guardian) have until Aug. 2 to make the pledge by visiting www.ahealthiermichigan.org/MIKidsCan.
Ten winners will be randomly selected to receive a VIP experience for themselves and a friend at Ford Field when the Detroit Lions take on the New York Jets on Aug. 13. Winners will receive:

  • An exclusive pre-game workout session with Detroit Lions trainers and staff
  • Admission to player meet and greet
  • Participation in the fan tunnel experience prior to the game
  • Four game tickets
  • A #MIKidsCan t-shirt and goody bag
  • A healthy dinner
By making the #MIKidsCan Play like a Lion pledge, kids agree to join our team and aim to complete a series of fun and healthy activities each week.

Week 4: Sleep like a Lion!

Getting enough sleep is key to your overall health. Get 8 to 12 hours of sleep every night this week – the recommended amount for kids ages 6 to 12.
Watch the video below to see our friends Coach Chris Fritzsching, Roary and the #MIKidsCan ambassadors tell you more about how to Sleep like a Lion.

Detroit Lions players get enough sleep each night to be well-rested and have the energy they need to get in the game. Maintain a bedtime routine and power down all your screens at least one hour before bedtime. This makes it easier to fall asleep.
Parents, help your kids complete the #MIKidsCan Play like a Lion experience by sharing photos of your children being healthy and active using #MIKidsCan and #Contest on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to be entered to win autographed Matthew Stafford gear.
Photos must be shared publicly and must include both #MIKidsCan and #Contest to be eligible for the prize drawings. See official rules for full details.
Congratulations to our Week 3 winner, who won an autographed Matthew Stafford hat!
