Are you going red this Friday, Feb. 6? It’s National Wear Red Day and donning the eye-catching color helps raise awareness of the number one killer of women, heart disease.

Get in the mood to break out your red best by checking out ten of our favorite red pop culture moments and icons.

The dress: Julia Roberts is a vision in red in the movie “Pretty Woman”. Do you know the history behind the comical jewelry box scene?

The song: Chris de Burgh might not be a household name, but his signature hit “Lady in Red” has surely made you wish you were donning the color on the dance floor.

The movie moment: The little girl in a red coat in Steven Spielberg’s moving “Schindler’s List” stands out in the mostly black and white film. The color draws the eye of the viewer, helping to forge a personal connection to the many Holocaust victims portrayed in the film.

The shoes: “There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home.” Dorothy’s ruby red slippers were her ticket back to Kansas in the MGM film “Wizard of Oz.” The color of the shoes was changed from the book’s silver to a more dynamic red.

The hot color: It’s not a true red, but Pantone’s color of the year for 2015, Marsala, is definitely on the red spectrum and would look fetching in your home or your wardrobe.

The beauty icon: Marilyn Monroe’s perfectly lacquered lips are all the red we need.

The music: Whether you love her or have mixed feelings, Taylor Swift’s “Red” album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and earned her nominations for Best Country Album and Album of the Year at the 56th Grammy Awards.

The condiment: Sriracha, a spicy red chili sauce, is seemingly bigger than ketchup these days, gracing dinner tables and our Saturday morning brunch eggs.

The superheroes: What color would a superpower-wielding family of heroes wear? Red, of course. Just ask The Incredibles.

The planet: Is there life on Mars? NASA’s Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity has spent 11 years trying to find out all we can about the red planet. One thing is for sure, the planet has played a starring role in tons of movies and books.
