Visit Michigan’s Newest and Largest Aquarium!
When it’s too cold to be outside, have you ever gone stir crazy just looking for something to do? Wonder no more and “just keep swimming”! The Michigan Sea Life Aquarium at Great Lakes Crossing opens to the public on Jan. 29. With 35,000 square feet and 22 tanks worth of attractions, the aquarium is full of vibrant sea-life and nature.
Boasting over 20 different displays of 5,000 sea animals in 250 different species, there is something for everyone. The aquarium houses over 150,000 gallons of water and even features an interactive touch-pool experience where you can gently handle crabs and sea stars.
There are also exhibits such as a 180-degree ocean tunnel, interactive quiz trail and a pop up station where you can stand with the fish while staying completely dry! The aquarium is able to host schools, groups and birthday parties as well.
Just a few of the sea animals you may see at the aquarium include:
- Clown fish
- Tropical fish
Walking through the aquarium is also a great way to get some light exercise. It takes about an hour to walk the entire way through. There is a soft structure within the aquarium for kids to play and release some energy too.
So whether you’re a kid or a kid-at-heart, a trip to the new Sea Life aquarium is sure to spice up your Saturday and make you a fish fin-atic. For directions, hours and help planning your trip to the Michigan Sea Life Aquarium, visit their website here.
