3 Frozen Desserts That Are 100 Percent Guilt-Free

Healthy frozen dessertsSummer may be coming to an end, but frozen desserts don’t have to go out of style with the hot weather. In fact, an icy sweet treat you make yourself can be a lot healthier than the ones packed with preservatives and sugar from the grocery store. Try one of these three healthy frozen desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth without any guilt!

Frozen fruit: This may be the easiest sweet snack you could possibly “make.” All you need to do is freeze some grapes, blueberries or raspberries and anytime you’re craving something sweet, reach into the freezer and pop a few in your mouth. These are also great to use in water as a replacement for ice cubes. Just make sure to freeze them in a flat layer on a pan before putting them in a bag so they don’t stick together.

Banana ice cream: This delicious, non-dairy, vitamin-packed dessert will satisfy your sweet tooth without any guilt. To make banana ice cream, peel ripe bananas and cut them up into chunks (the shape and size doesn’t matter). Put the banana pieces in a freezer-safe bowl or bag and freeze for at least two hours. Once the bananas are completely frozen, throw the pieces into a blender or food processor and blend until the banana has a creamy texture. Eat it right away or store it in an airtight container to freeze even more (it will have more of a traditional texture if you freeze it). You can also add in dark chocolate chips, nut butter, honey or any other favorite ice cream toppings to jazz up your creation. Once you’re a pro at the traditional banana ice cream, mix it up with these variations!

Fruit juice popsicles: If you have a juicer on hand or have access to fresh juice at a grocery store, freeze different combinations of your favorite juices for a sweet frozen snack. If you’re buying juice in the store, look for 100 percent juice with no added sugar. As long as you don’t buy sugar-packed juices, a fresh juice popsicle can be a healthy treat packed with vitamins and minerals. Some of our favorite combinations are beet and apple, mint and watermelon and pineapple and cranberry. The best part about this dessert? All you need is a popsicle mold and a freezer!
