Why Not Run a New Year’s Race in Michigan and Celebrate in Good Health?

Runners prepare to start the New Year's Eve 4-mile race on Belle Isle in Detroit.

New Year’s festivities are typically associated with things like drinking Champagne, disappointment, underwhelming parties, watching football bowl games and eating lots of high-fat foods. But this year, why not close out 2011 or ring in 2012 by running a race?

There are plenty of races taking place across Michigan, both on New Year’s Eve and on Jan. 1. Why not resolve to run one? It could be the most memorable NYE of your life.

You could, for example:

  • Choose between races through downtown Lansing, Flint, Jackson or Midland
  • Run a marathon at Stony Creek Metropark in Macomb County or at Spring Valley Park in Kalamazoo
  • Take a New Year’s Day jaunt along the lakeshore at Muskegon State Park

You can find registration information about these and other New Year’s-themed races on our events calendar. Happy running!
