Get your kayak or canoe on and enjoy the beautiful weather that’s in the forecast this weekend, at the Hudson Mills to Dexter-Huron Metroparks Canoe and Kayak Race.
Canoe race
You’ll start at the Rapids View Picnic Area at Hudson Mills Metropark and wind your way down the Huron River for 5.5 miles until you reach the Dexter-Huron Metropark. Bus transportation will be provided back to the start. The race kicks off at 9 a.m. Get there early for giveaways from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan before the race starts!
Make the race an active, fun family event. There’s no age restriction to participate, although kids younger than 12 should plan to ride in a boat with an adult.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three men, women, and tandem competitors in two classes: boats 17.5 feet and longer and boats 14 feet to 17.5 feet. For boats shorter than 14 feet, prizes will be awarded to the top three men and women.
Bring your own canoe or kayak or rent one from Skip’s Canoe Livery. Canoes must be reserved in advance.
