Every Wednesday this summer is Walk the RiverWalk Wednesday, a part of the Live the Riverfront collaboration between Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy.
For 16 weeks, walkers are encouraged to get active on lunch breaks and throughout the day. Wednesday May 7 marked the program’s kick-off and many employees and Detroiters were already out getting in their steps alongside the river.
Participants are encouraged to check in when they engage in the activity and can be rewarded with various prizes depending on how many weeks they attend. Walk the RiverWalk Wednesdays occur from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. through August 20 and are based out of the GM Renaissance Center Plaza.
