How to make spicy tuna rolls at home

HealthyMe Sushi Pic

Ever since I had my first California Roll, sushi has been my favorite food. From simple veggie rolls to the more complicated Futomaki-style rolls, I love it all. Most sushi is low in fat and calories, but it’s also a great source of protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and beneficial vitamins and nutrients.

So rather than paying high prices every time I wanted to treat myself to my favorite dish, I decided I was going to learn to make sushi at home. I’m not much of a chef (okay, I’m an awful chef), so I was a bit nervous at how this would go. Turns out, it’s super easy!

Check out this video to see how I made a Spicy Tuna Roll.

Though there are a lot of nutritional benefits to sushi, you do have to be careful when selecting a roll.  Choosing a Tempura roll or adding certain sauces can up the total calorie and fat content in a hurry. Here are some tips to slim down your sushi.

Not feeling the raw fish? Learn to make “Frushi” (fruit sushi rolls) – a fun, healthy snack for kids.
