Michigan embraces Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday events in MichiganBlack Friday gets all the glory as the kick-off to the holiday shopping season, but fighting crowds at the big box stores can start to feel a little exhausting (if not dangerous!). May we suggest an alternative: Small Business Saturday. It started in 2010 as a way to encourage people to shop at small, independently-owned stores (like Fustini’s, shown here, in Traverse City). The idea is that by supporting stores owned by your neighbors, you’re helping keep your local economy buzzing.
