Located in between Roberts and State Park on River Road in Marine City and expanding about 1,500 acres of land, Algonac State Park is a wonderful recreation spot to visit with a large group or even by yourself. With a campground, RV stations, sheltered picnic areas and a riverfront set-up, this Michigan State Park is an ideal location for a gathering of any kind.
There are two camp ground locations on site, Water Front and Wagon Wheel. Water Front is located in the front of the park and faces the beautiful St. Clair River, which constantly has boat and freighter traffic during the summer months. It is a great, breezy spot for a get-together or just a relaxing afternoon. The Wagon Wheel campground is located in the back of the park and is perfect for your RV or tent set-up. The spots provide an electrical docking station and a picnic table.
In addition to being a great location for relaxing activities such as camping, Algonac State Park also provides activities for those looking to do a little more. Toward the back end the park has trap and archery shooting areas which are very well maintained. In addition to archery the park has wide open grass areas that can be used for any type of recreation and also volleyball nets.
There are also a few different types of trails at the park. There is a paved biking trail, along with a hiking and nature trail. The nature trail is a short winding path with different types of plants and wildlife which are labeled throughout the way.
Across the street from the park is a small area with river access where visitors can fish, swim or relax on the beautiful banks of the St. Clair River.
The park is open year round and in the winter the park encourages its visitors to keep coming, and it provides cross country skiing and winter camping.
So whether you are looking to have a large get-together or just a relaxing afternoon, Algonac State Park has plenty of leisure and recreational activities to provide for a great outdoor adventure.
