I love, love, love everything about dance and music. Growing up as a dancer has made me passionate about dancing, not only as an art form but also as a fun way to exercise. That is why I am happy to share with you a must- see event where you can see some of the most talented dancers in Michigan.
If you love dance like I do and you want to be entertained this weekend, you have to check out Motor City Movement: A Collaboration of Choreographers (MCM). My friends, Jill Zmijewski and Ryan Nunley are the co-founders of this wonderful showcase. MCM was launched in 2010 as a performance platform for dancers in Michigan.
Zmijewski says “This idea was created for dancers, especially older dancers, that have graduated from high school and are staying in our wonderful state and love to perform.” She has been dancing since she was 5 years old. She loves dance and states, “It is the one thing I can do and be completely in the moment, it excites me and is my constant form of happiness.”
Motor City Movement occurs twice a year, once in the summer and once usually in December. There are a variety of acts and different forms of dance, from hip hop and jazz to tap, contemporary and much more. Heather Zara will be hosting the event. DJ Dayda will be spinning tunes before and after the show, so you can dance all night long too.
The show date is Friday, August 9, 2013 at The Crofoot Ballrom. Doors open at 7:30 PM. Ages 18 &up. Ticket prices are $13 in advance or $16 the night of the show. It is a night you don’t want to miss, whether you are a music lover, dancer, a dance lover or looking for a new adventure to kick-off your weekend.
