Marissa won the video contest among a group of five finalists who submitted videos telling us how they would make Michigan a healthier place. Winning “Make the Play” was especially rewarding for Marissa given that she was a finalist for the contest in 2012. In the words of Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford, who Marissa’s Boulan Park Middle School will hold an assembly with thanks to her winning video; “I’m extremely impressed that Marissa didn’t give up after not winning the contest last year. Instead, she was even more motivated to win this year, and her hard work and dedication paid off. I admire her for demonstrating that kind of commitment to achieving her goals at such a young age.”
Thanks to everyone who participated in the Make the Play contest this year – we’re thrilled to see so many young Michiganders excited about making the state a healthier place for years to come.
