#PinkEats for Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Healthy pink drinks

Breast Cancer Awareness MonthIn honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’ll be posting Pink Eats, a collection of healthy, yummy recipes that are all pink!

It’s time to bust out the hoodies, cheer on your favorite football team (Go Spartans and Lions!) and enjoy delicious honey crisp apples. Autumn is here. With the fall, comes October, which has also been coined Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

In honor of the brave men and women affected by breast cancer, we’ve compiled some delectable, fun beverages that are healthy, tasty and PINK! Here at A Healthier Michigan, we raise our pink glasses to you. Cheers to finding a cure.

Pomegranate Lemonade

Yields 4 eight oz. glasses

Pink, healthy drinks for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Ingredients:

3 tbsp. sugar
¼ cup fresh lemon juice
1 cup pomegranate juice
2 ½ cups water
Crushed ice

Directions:

Pour lemon juice into pitcher, add sugar and stir until sugar is dissolved. Pour pomegranate juice into the pitcher and stir. Add 2 ½ cups of water into the pitcher and pour into individual glasses. Add crushed ice to each individual glass.

Strawberry Pineapple Smoothie

Yields 4 eight oz. smoothies

Ingredients:

1 cup strawberries with tops removed
1 cup fresh pineapple, cubed
½ cup skim milk
¼ cup orange or pineapple juice
2 tbsp. honey
1 tsp. sugar, or other sweetener
4 cubes ice

Directions: 

Place all ingredients in blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Pour into glasses, add a strawberry or pineapple to rim of each glass and serve.

And if you’re in a pinch for a great pink drink, pink grapefruit and cranberry juices by themselves will also do the trick. Bottoms up!
