Whether you’re hosting a barbecue this Fourth of July, or you’re bringing a dish to pass; making a red, white and blue dessert is a fun way to show your patriotic side to your friends and family. The following recipes don’t just look good, but they taste good.

Red, White and Blue Strawberry Shortcake

In less than an hour, you can have this appetizing dessert ready for your July Fourth celebrations. The best part about this dessert; one serving is only 180 calories!

Ingredients

1 package yellow cake mix
1 8 oz. container frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 pint blueberries, rinsed and drained
2 pints fresh strawberries, rinsed and sliced

Directions:

First, prepare cake according to the package directions. Bake in a 9X13 inch pan. Cool completely. Frost cake with whipped topping. Place the blueberries in the corner. Arrange sliced strawberries like stripes on the American flag.
Chill until serving.
One of my favorite desserts is chocolate dipped strawberries. This fun recipe puts a spin on the classic chocolate dip by adding blue sprinkles and white chocolate. This easy to make dessert is sure to be a hit on the fourth!

Ingredients

Strawberries
White chocolate
Blue sugar or blue sprinkles

Directions

Melt white chocolate in microwave on 50% power for two minutes in a bowl. Stir until the bowl is no longer warm. Next, microwave for 30 second intervals at 50% power, stirring in between until the chocolate is completely melted. Place blue sugar in a separate bowl. Dip a large section of the strawberries into the melted white chocolate, then dip the lower third of the strawberries in the blue sugar. After dipping each strawberry, place on wax paper until cool.
This festive dessert for the holiday can be prepared quickly. I hope it tastes as good as it looks!

Ingredients

6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
1 package marshmallows
3 tablespoons margarine
Betty Crocker Gel Food Colors in red and blue

Directions

Separate your rice krispies and marshmallows into three containers to use for each of the three layers. Microwave he marshmallows for a few minutes. Take them out of the microwave and add the food coloring. Stir in 2 cups of Rice Krispies. Press cereal and marshmallow mixture into a greased 9×9 pan. Repeat the previous step for three layers. For best results, pat down the layers using the wax paper.
Let the dessert sit for a while before you serve and enjoy!
